About World Folk Festival
World Folk Festival is the largest live Punjabi folk dances and music competition in the World. Our mission is to preserve and promote Punjabi culture and tradition around the globe, and to keep the beauty of our folk dances and music alive for generations to come.
The inaugural event in 2023 broke records by hosting over 90 teams and over 800 participants who travelled from around the world (Canada, USA, Ireland, and UK) to compete at the first-of-its-kind competition. World Folk Festival experienced tremendous success with 20+ categories including new categories to North America such as Luddi, Jhoomer, Jindua, Malwai Gidha, Folk Songs, and Folk Orchestra. The introduction of these categories to the western hemisphere was impactful in educating and promoting the different folk dances and music that otherwise would have been forgotten. Today, several organizations and competitions in North America have followed in our footsteps and introduced these categories at their competitions and events.
In 2024, World Folk Festival continued to break records by introducing new categories to the Bhangra circuit such as Live Bhangra (Girls Only) and Super Juniors (Age 12 & under). Today, several competitions have adopted these new categories and many new teams have formed to compete in them - proving that the work World Folk Festival is doing to promote Punjabi culture has continued to have a positive effect.
